Chateau Loučeň Review: Where Timeless Elegance Meets Warm Hospitality

Chateau Loučeň Review

Our journey with Chateau Loučeň began in June 2024, during our castle scouting tour around Prague. At that time, we only saw the estate from the outside, but the kind castle manager gave us a private tour of the interiors — sharing fascinating details about the estate’s history and architecture. It wasn’t an official visit yet, but we immediately knew this was a place worth coming back to.

A Stay Worth Returning For

Our second visit came in January 2025, when we returned with a clear purpose: to stay overnight, enjoy the cuisine, and review the full guest experience. This visit coincided with preparations for a June wedding we were organizing in nearby Mcely, so Loučeň became our little escape — and an unexpected highlight of that winter trip.

We stayed in one of the three exclusive Castle Suites, and it was simply wonderful. High ceilings adorned with trophies, a spacious bathroom with a freestanding bathtub, and the charm of receiving a grand castle key at check-in — it all felt like stepping into a different era. The suites are part of the Hotel Maximilian, a stylish accommodation just below the castle itself, which we hadn’t explored before.

This Chateau Loučeň review wouldn’t be complete without mentioning how perfectly history and comfort blend here — from the warmth of the interiors to the calmness of the surrounding park. It’s one of those places that makes you forget the outside world completely.

Dining Beyond Expectations

We’ll admit, we arrived at the restaurant with a bit of hesitation — after reading a few mixed reviews online. But the experience turned out to be one of the most pleasant surprises of the entire stay. I had one of the best steaks since returning from the U.S., and the traditional Czech dessert — poppy seed dumplings with plums, locally called Zámecké čápy — was an absolute delight.

A Fairytale in Winter

During our visit, the entire estate was beautifully decorated for Christmas, creating an atmosphere that felt straight out of a winter fairytale. Inside the castle, festive decorations brought warmth and charm to every room, but the castle dining hall truly stood out — it’s a space we already know we want to use for a future event.

Rehearsal Dinner in Summer Light

By June, we returned once again — this time for a rehearsal dinner before the wedding in Mcely. We stayed three nights at the Hotel Maxmilian, and the experience was again flawless. The event took place outdoors under a tented terrace at sunset, and the atmosphere could not have been more magical.

The following day, we arranged a bridal photoshoot inside Chateau Loučeň, sneaking away from Mcely for a few hours. That story — and many of the photos — will appear soon in upcoming posts and social media features.

Now Part of Our Luxury Castle Tours

We’re proud to share that Chateau Loučeň has now officially joined our Luxury Castle Tours collection. This week, we also filmed a new promo video here with Andy Winson and his wife, whose wedding we organized last year at another castle.

And as Andy beautifully said during filming,

“Everyone should experience this place at least once in their life.”

That’s exactly how we feel too — and if this Chateau Loučeň review inspires you to visit, then it’s done its job. Chateau Loučeň is a place we’ll be returning to again and again — not only for weddings, but for the pure joy of being there.
